Features: This book summarizes the past five years of Gaokao (college entrance exam) questions and the past three years of simulated test questions, effectively reflecting the trends of Gaokao over the years with clear objectives. Additionally, the questions are presented in the form of a workbook, offering a unique feature that greatly facilitates students' learning and teachers' teaching, making it an ideal teaching aid. While collections of Gaokao questions or Gaokao questions combined with simulated test questions are already common in the book market, the concept of this series is entirely new: we not only strive for fresh content, innovative forms, a high-end positioning, and an elegant style but also emphasize practicality and ease of use, ensuring that teachers find it convenient to teach with and students gain significant benefits from it. To achieve this, we have strived to accomplish the following points during the writing process:
1. Meticulous Planning for Gaokao Review
To be avoided: Repeatedly practicing questions you already know and consistently struggling with questions you don’t. To prevent students from wasting time on excessive, redundant practice, the selection of questions in this book is meticulously curated. Not only do the questions originate from Gaokao and simulated test questions that (condensed the of numerous question-setters), but they are also carefully chosen by teachers who have dedicated years to the Gaokao frontline and possess deep expertise in the exam. Our principle is: to have students practice a small number of questions while mastering typical problem-solving methods.
2. Practicality and Ease of Use
For the vast array of Gaokao and simulated test questions, we select only those with high relevance. This ensures coverage of fundamental knowledge, skills, and methods while also targeting the improvement of abilities. To facilitate use by teachers and students, we label the difficulty level of each question: A for basic, B for intermediate, and C for advanced. The arrangement system is as follows: for science subjects, it is closely linked to teaching schedules, with questions organized by lesson; for liberal arts subjects, it is paired with units.
3. Scientific Classification
The results of Gaokao not only determine who enters university but also dictate which tier of university they attend. Therefore, the questions must be tiered, and the scores must be differentiated. What then determines the scoring gap? Practice shows that the performance on intermediate-level questions is most critical. Thus, in addition to reclassifying and arranging the questions according to the new Gaokao Examination Instructions in terms of content and sequence, we have also considered the overall structure of questions of the same content, including their order and difficulty, ensuring that the proportion of basic, intermediate, and advanced questions in the entire book remains at 2:6:2.
