Features: Most middle school students start learning English by studying textbooks, but few truly master and excel in them. Everyone focuses their main efforts on memorizing vocabulary, analyzing key and difficult points, and doing a large amount of exercises and test questions, while neglecting to learn the English language itself through reading texts. This is a misguided approach—focusing on the wrong things—and as a result, practical English application skills do not meet expectations, with widespread poor performance in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This is a common misconception in English learning. English textbooks are systematically and comprehensively written, making them the best material for middle school students to learn English. Experience has proven that solid, diligent, and repeated reading of texts is an effective method for learning English. However, it is essential to thoroughly understand the pronunciation, meaning, and sentence structure of every word and sentence in the text, firmly grasp them, accurately comprehend the entire passage, and then repeatedly read it until it becomes second nature, forming a sense of language. In this way, practical English skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing will naturally improve, and difficult problems encountered in exams will also be easily solved. Moreover, memorizing words and understanding grammar within the overall linguistic context of the text is far more effective than learning them in isolation from context. Therefore, middle school students urgently need a book that provides detailed and comprehensive annotations, translations, and explanations for English textbooks.
To address this situation, we have organized experienced teachers to create this book based on the new curriculum standards, closely following the People's Education Press's Experimental Course Standards for Compulsory Education English Textbooks. For most words in the text, we provide phonetic symbols and meanings, translations for each sentence, and explanations for some phrases. Additionally, we include reference answers for the exercises in the textbook. With this book, students can overcome learning obstacles, save time and effort by avoiding the need to constantly look up dictionaries or grammar books, and make the process of reading texts enjoyable and effortless. By doing so repeatedly and diligently, they can fully master the, lay a solid foundation, and improve their English skills. The effect is particularly significant for middle school students in the foundational stage.
