Features: The subject Olympiad for primary and secondary schools (abbreviated as "subject Olympiad") is one of the most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competitions for primary and secondary school students in China. The subject Olympiad draws inspiration from and extends the concept of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the Olympiad's strong emphasis on innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness, and the cultivation of students' exploration skills and the inspiration of their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development.
Based on years of careful research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of Olympiad books titled "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School," totaling more than 200 varieties across seven subjects: mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information science. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, we are considered the most influential in the domestic and international industry and hold the greatest appeal in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School" series are as follows:
High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means referencing the new [curriculum standards] issued by the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means closely aligning with the competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
Accurate: Scientifically precise and logically structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive approach, offering in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive, detailed problem-solving methods.
Innovative: The questions selected are novel, unique, and highly engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school examination questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
Refined: Carefully selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible yet achievable. The focus is on generalization and transferability; solving problems in multiple ways, transforming them, and asking multiple questions about them; emphasizing the training of thinking skills without resorting to rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
Renowned: A collection of distinguished experts. The Editorial Department of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited renowned professors from prestigious universities, distinguished teachers from key secondary schools, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches to collaborate on the writing.
