Since Xu Baoqiang offered the "Newspaper Editing" course for the second batch of students at Peking University's Journalism Research Society in February 1919, there has been over eighty years of disciplinary history. In the new era alone, nearly ten professional textbooks have been published, continuously summarizing and exploring the theoretical aspects of news editing while explaining the essential content of news business. Although the textbooks have become thicker, their practicality has weakened. Returning to the traditional practicality, technicality, and guidance of news editing theory is the second reason for compiling "News Editing." This book consists of ten chapters, including an overview of news editing work, manuscript editing, news headlines, (supplement editing), editorial opinions, photo editing, and news planning.
