Seeing English enthusiasts trapped in the dilemma of painstakingly memorizing words day after day, I feel a responsibility to help them turn learning English into an enjoyable and effortless endeavor. Thus, I set out to create a vocabulary manual that breaks away from traditional methods. Little did I know that this endeavor would grow into an unstoppable project, evolving from junior high vocabulary to high school vocabulary, then to CET-4 and CET-6 vocabulary, taking nearly two years to complete the entire series of "Practice Speaking and Memorize Words" books. The series presented to readers can be considered an innovation in English vocabulary learning, with the following characteristics:
1. Innovative Concept: Every entry in this series appears in the form of small dialogues from daily life.
2. Three-in-One Approach: "Unlocking Ears, Activating Tongues, Strengthening Vocabulary" are the three goals of "Practice Speaking and Memorize Words."
- "Unlocking Ears" refers to improving listening skills while memorizing words through dictation exercises of the dialogues included in the (supplementary tapes).
- "Activating Tongues" involves mimicking the pronunciation and intonation of the dialogues in the, allowing learners to remember everyday spoken scenarios alongside each word, thereby improving their spoken English subconsciously.
- Memorizing words is also achieved naturally through dictation and imitation, while the contextual help ensures not only strong retention but also a deep understanding of how to use them in real-life situations.
3. Gradual Progression: This is a tiered series of vocabulary books, with junior high vocabulary containing 1,323 entries, high school vocabulary 1,998 entries, CET-4 vocabulary 2,473 entries, and CET-6 vocabulary 2,368 entries.
4. Authentic Creation: All dialogues in this series are original works by language experts from English-speaking countries. The choice of authors from English-speaking countries was deliberate, as they not only use authentic English but also reflect the cultural nuances of the language in the dialogues. Additionally, all foreign authors in the series have studied Chinese or other foreign languages, providing them with firsthand experience in language learning. This ensures that their creative work truly considers the perspective of learners, guaranteeing the series' fresh, authentic, and vivid expressions.
The book is also accompanied by five audio tapes, with the price to be determined separately.
