Features: The historical archives of the Water History Research Institute of our college were compiled with the strong support of the former of the Central Archives (now the First Historical Archives of China) from 1956 to 1958. A team of over 20 colleagues sorted out historical materials related to rainfall, drought and flood conditions, river channel changes and management, and engineering techniques from more than a million Qing Dynasty memorials in the archives. Using methods such as copying, typing, and photography, they compiled nearly 140,000 photographs and 20,000 copies. These materials have been utilized by various national units. However, due to the vast volume of documents and the lack of systematic organization, much redundant work and waste have occurred. To meet the needs of the water conservancy industry and facilitate water conservancy workers in studying China's historical floods and flood patterns, the book 《》 compiled by our institute in 1981 has been published and has been well-received by relevant parties. In March 1983, we began the compilation of 《》, which has now been completed and is presented to the readers. Historical flood and flood records of other rivers will continue to be compiled and published in the form of the "Series of Qing Dynasty River Flood Archives." This volume of historical materials was compiled by Yang Guang and Guo Shu of the Water History Research Institute of the Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydropower Sciences with the support of responsible officials from the General Office of the Ministry of Water Resources and the Water Management Department. During the compilation process, Wang Huazhen and Yao Bangyi provided guidance on river system zoning, and Chen Jiaqi, Yang Xiuli, and Ye Yongyi offered specific suggestions on the compilation format, among other issues. We sincerely express our gratitude to all of them. Due to our limited expertise, there may inevitably be shortcomings and errors in the compilation. We welcome criticism and corrections from readers.
