Features: The Standardized Dictionary of Modern Chinese Characters for Students is compiled based on the Common Characters List of Modern Chinese jointly released by the State Language Commission and the Ministry of Education. It includes a total of 3,500 commonly used characters, which are the fundamental characters in modern Chinese and have a coverage rate of over 99%. This dictionary is a foundational reference tool and holds significant importance for the teaching and learning of modern Chinese. It not only provides annotations on the pronunciation, form, and meaning of characters but also, as much as possible, indicates the grammatical function and part of speech of each character in specific linguistic contexts to enhance understanding of their practical usage. Compiling a dictionary is an experimental endeavor. To avoid ambiguity, the book adopts the current teaching grammar system and incorporates recognized research findings as a basis, aiming to align with teaching practices. Although we have made extensive efforts, there are still many areas that need improvement. We hope readers will provide constructive criticism and suggestions for further refinement and progress.
