Features: The articles collected in this volume are primarily the writings that the author contributed to the "New Chinese Music" column of Shanghai Music Publishing House's "Music Lovers" magazine since 1999, over the past six years. Each column article introduces one contemporary or modern Chinese composer, but due to the significant time span in writing, the varying creative characteristics of each composer, and other factors such as the time constraints in writing, each article differs in its approach, length, and narrative style. Of course, this also has certain advantages, such as avoiding the possibility of these articles being "column-formatted" into uniformity. During the column's publication process, the articles were primarily written based on the preparation of materials and analysis of scores, and subsequently published. When compiling this collection, the table of contents is arranged in alphabetical order by the composers' surnames. Additionally, the main works of the mentioned composers have been supplemented and updated. These lists are mainly compiled and organized based on the materials provided by the composers themselves. The last four articles do not belong to this column but are closely related to "New Chinese Music," so they are included here as well: the first three are summaries of the recent three editions of the "National Conference of Young and Middle-aged Composers."
