Features: This textbook series consists of six levels, with one book for each level, covering intensive reading, extensive reading, rapid reading, and listening instruction, all designed according to graded teaching requirements. Additionally, grammar and exercises are provided in four books, suitable for levels 1-4. Both intensive reading and listening instruction are accompanied by teacher's manuals. For students who do not meet the entry-level requirements outlined in the syllabus, two supplementary books for preparatory-level intensive reading and extensive reading are available. The entire series was developed by Fudan University, Peking University, East China Normal University, Renmin University of China, Wuhan University, and Nanjing University of Technology, with Dong Yafen of Fudan University serving as the chief editor. This book contains ten units. Each unit is composed of six parts: text, vocabulary, notes, exercises, reading practice, and guided writing. All texts are original materials, slightly edited for clarity. The selection of materials aims for diversity in themes and genres, with rich, engaging, and thought-provoking content. When explaining texts, the focus is on the overall context while also analyzing the usage of common words and phrases. This approach ensures that neither language points are taught in isolation from the broader content nor is the article's content overshadowed by neglecting fundamental language training. Vocabulary explanations are presented in both English and Chinese. Notes are written in simple English as much as possible.
