Features: Could humans really have traveled from the eastern to the western coast of the Pacific on a raft? To seek the truth, six young people embarked on a tense, thrilling, and utterly authentic adventure journey on a raft. Thor Heyerdahl, a contemporary outstanding anthropologist and maritime explorer born in Norway in 1914, narrated a heroic epic more thrilling than Columbus and more miraculous than Magellan. He questioned the claim of Columbus to the discovery of the American continent; he challenged the spread patterns of maritime civilizations in the Pacific; he boldly outlined the maritime routes of Asian, African, and European civilizations thousands of years ago; he organized several world-shocking expeditions. His conclusions—shocking and revolutionary, shook the academic world, and painted the history of human civilization. Thor Heyerdahl's important works—Kon-Tiki, The Secret of Easter Island, and The Raft of the Kon-Tiki Expedition—have sold 20 million copies worldwide. Translated into 67 languages, they have become the most travel and exploration classics of all time.
In the Pacific Islands, the Polynesians pass down a touching legend: Long ago, their ancestors, the sun god Kon-Tiki, led his tribe on a raft from the eastern coast of the ocean, following the movement of the sun, and crossed the sea. Inspired by this, the Norwegian anthropologist and explorer Thor Heyerdahl, along with an anonymous fireman, boarded a primitive log raft named after the sun god Kon-Tiki and set sail from Peru, crossing the Pacific. During the journey, they traveled alongside the sun, moon, and stars, and accompanied by various marine creatures, they experienced the breathtaking beauty of the vast Pacific Ocean.
