Features: To implement the spirit of the "Decision of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on Deepening Education Reform and Comprehensively Promoting Quality Education" and to fulfill the planning for vocational education curriculum reform and textbook development proposed in the "Action Plan for Education Revitalization in the 21st Century," in accordance with the spirit of the "Opinions on the Declaration, Establishment, and Management of National Planned Textbooks for Secondary Vocational Education" (No. 1, 2001, by the Ministry of Education), the Ministry of Education organized efforts to plan and write textbooks for moral education courses, cultural foundation courses, professional and technical foundation courses, and the main courses of 80 key construction majors that play a supporting role in achieving the training objectives of secondary vocational education and ensuring basic teaching standards. Starting from the autumn semester of 2001, national planned textbooks will be successively provided for selection and use by various secondary vocational schools. National planned textbooks are compiled based on the teaching syllabi for moral education courses, cultural foundation courses, professional and technical foundation courses, and the main courses of 80 key construction majors newly promulgated by the Ministry of Education, and are approved by the National Committee for the Examination and Approval of Textbooks for Secondary Vocational Education. The new textbooks fully implement the concept of quality education, starting from the actual needs of high-quality laborers and intermediate and junior specialized talents demanded by social development, and emphasize the cultivation of students' innovative spirit and practical abilities. The new textbooks have made new attempts in terms of theoretical systems, organizational structures, and explanatory methods. The new textbooks adopt a "one syllabus, multiple textbooks" approach, striving to provide options for textbook selection and meeting the teaching needs of different academic systems, majors, and conditions. It is hoped that local governments and departments will actively promote and adopt national planned textbooks, summarize experience in use, and promptly propose revisions and suggestions to improve and enhance them. This book is one of the series textbooks for the Electronic Appliance Application and Maintenance major in secondary vocational schools, divided into two parts.
Part 1 covers the principles of VCD and DVD players, as well as common fault analysis and maintenance, with 10 chapters. Chapters 1–5 explain the basics of VCD players, the overall composition and maintenance methods, the working principles and maintenance of the core and circuits; Chapter 6 provides a detailed analysis of the circuit diagrams of the Xianxin VCD-768 and Xinke SVD-280 (Z) models, which represent the two major mainstream VCD core technologies (Philips new digital core and Sony digital core), and also introduces common fault analysis and maintenance methods for VCD players; Chapters 7–9 cover the basics of DVD players, structural composition and working principles, circuit diagram analysis and common fault maintenance methods; Chapter 10 discusses the selection, use, and maintenance knowledge of VCD and DVD players.
Part 2 includes 12 skill training exercises to reinforce the correct use and maintenance of VCD and DVD players, the understanding of the overall circuit structure, the disassembly and assembly of the entire machine, conventional testing methods, and the analysis, simulation, and maintenance of common faults, to consolidate the theoretical knowledge learned. This book can serve as a professional textbook for secondary vocational schools, vocational high schools, and secondary vocational and technical schools. It is also suitable for technicians in electronic appliance application and maintenance, technical training courses for various DVD player technologies, and DVD player production and maintenance personnel. To facilitate teaching, this book is accompanied by a teaching reference package for instructors, including electronic teaching plans, teaching guides, and answer keys to exercises.
