Features: This book is set against the backdrop of the new-generation Pentium series microprocessor and MASM6.1X, providing a comprehensive and systematic exposition of 16/32-bit PC assembly language programming methods and the latest knowledge and technologies. The book consists of 12 chapters, divided into three levels:
Basic Principles and Methods (Chapters 1–6) introduce the working mode of the Pentium and its extended technologies, 16/32-bit registers, memory addressing mechanisms, instruction addressing and instruction sets, assembly syntax and pseudo-instructions, sequential branching and loop programming, subroutine nesting and return, as well as the creation of COM files.
Programming Application (Chapters 7–10) cover table processing (sorting and retrieval), encryption and decryption, disk file management, clock and resident programs, BIOS interrupt call techniques, robot graphics and animation, input/output interface programming, asynchronous communication, and mixed programming between assembly language and high-level languages.
Knowledge Expansion and Technology (Chapters 11–12) introduce segmentation, paging management, and multi-tasking protection mechanisms, examples of switching between real mode and protected mode, the use of virtual 86 mode, multimedia assembly MMX and SSE instructions and their programming, design, and optimization.
Through program examples and demonstrations of software tool usage, as well as appendix lists, the book illustrates how to conduct software development. Each chapter includes a sufficient number of exercises. The book’s structure progresses layer by layer, with each layer advancing systematically. It integrates years of teaching research results, offering fresh and rich content with a focus on practical application. The teaching material is designed to be easily adapted by instructors and students based on their actual proficiency levels.
This book can serve as a textbook for computer or electronic information, automatic control, and related disciplines in higher education. It is also suitable for students in continuing education and microcomputer training programs in related fields. Additionally, it can be used by researchers, software developers, and anyone seeking to master microcomputer assembly language as a learning or self-study reference.
