Starting at the age of 12, he studied the art of the dizi under Liu Xinghan, Huang Shangyuan, and Liu Sen. Through diligent research and drawing upon diverse influences, he has accumulated a profound foundation in folk music, forming an artistic style characterized by strong Mongolian flavors and a singing quality. He has held solo concerts at venues such as the Beijing Music Hall (1987), the Hong Kong Concert Hall (1996), and the National Music Hall in Taipei (1997). Additionally, he performed collaborative concerts with the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and the National University Chinese Orchestra in 1999 and 2000. He is hailed as the "master of the new school of dizi music with grassland style." Over decades of his artistic career, he has created many beloved and outstanding compositions: the dizi pieces The Spring of Ordos, Under the Greater Khingan Mountains, Festival Fire in the Encampment, Longing for the Grasslands, Lyrical Grasslands, and Westward Journey, the bawu pieces Pastoral Song and Fishing Song from Dalai Lake, and the xun piece Aobao Sacrifice. These works have won numerous awards and have been included as teaching materials by art schools and groups both domestically and internationally. In the research and improvement of musical instruments, he has also made significant contributions: In 1991, he successfully developed a series of dizi and double reed bass dizi made from epoxy resin, which won the Inner Mongolia Cultural Science and Technology Progress First Prize and a national patent from China.
