Features: Lin Yonghui's turn to photography might be attributed to a person's intuition, but perhaps more importantly, his strong affection for his northeastern hometown played a decisive role. This long-standing nostalgia became a part of his subconscious. Once a certain opportunity arose, his heart readily responded, unable to resist and coming forward to express it in some way. According to Lin Yonghui himself, he shot Northeast People out of something akin to nostalgia. In his self-narration, he says: "Time flies. In a blink of an eye, I've been walking on black soil for forty years; in a blink of an eye, most of my childhood friends have become six or seven children; in a blink of an eye, the black soil has become colder. I'm afraid that this fast-paced time will drown out the little genuine emotions we have. I couldn't help but rush around, from house to house, village to village, searching for traces of the past."
