Features: Chinese entrepreneurs have a very apt metaphor for businesses in the 21st century: aircraft carriers. The physical body of an aircraft carrier possesses strong resilience against harsh sailing conditions, while its functionality is reflected in the combination of relatively more flexible main attack forces. Changes in the external environment and competitive success factors have made businesses, especially those with keen senses, realize the necessity of redefining corporate strategic goals and positioning. New competitive strategies and strategic concepts are gradually emerging. Many fundamental competitive strategies that successfully guided businesses in the 20th century have become basic requirements for competition. For example, the strategic concepts and methods we are familiar with, such as "quality leadership," "cost leadership," and "product differentiation," no longer guarantee a company's competitive advantage. This book introduces the basic concepts of strategy and strategic management; the content of strategic analysis; and some concepts and methods of strategic selection. The book is divided into four parts according to the logic process of strategic management: Part I introduces the basic concepts of strategy and strategic management. The fourth part includes the main content of strategic implementation, such as "strategic balance and strategic change," "product strategy," and "financial strategy."
The "Textbook of Enterprise Strategic Management" has been widely welcomed by universities and enterprises. Over three years, it has been printed six times and has been used as a main textbook and primary teaching reference by many universities across the country. Some enterprises have also designated it as a mandatory reading for management personnel. The second edition of the "Textbook of Enterprise Strategic Management" is even more aligned with the needs of Chinese enterprises in participating in international competition in the 21st century. The second edition has adjusted the arrangement of certain teaching content, added some new material to enhance the continuity and progression of the teaching process, and updated some cases and discussion questions. The new structure better aligns with the process of strategic management in practice. The content of the second edition textbook is divided into four parts: Part I introduces the basic concepts of strategy and strategic management, including chapters "Strategic Concepts" and "Basic Concepts, Framework, and Strategic Decision-Making of Strategic Management." The second part covers the content of the first stage of the strategic management process—strategic analysis—including chapters "External Environment Analysis," "Internal Capability Analysis," and "Comprehensive Analysis." The third part covers the content of the second stage of the strategic management process—strategic formulation and selection—including chapters "Strategic Guidance Documents" and "Corporate Strategy and Selection," which belong to corporate-level strategy; "Business Strategy and Management," which belongs to business-level strategy; "Product Strategy," "Financial Strategy," "Human Resource Strategy," and "Production and Operations Strategy," all of which belong to functional-level strategy. The fourth part covers the content of the third stage of the strategic management process—strategic implementation—including chapter "Strategic Implementation and Strategic Change."
According to teaching needs, each chapter includes four parts: main teaching content, chapter summary, discussion questions, and cases. Most of the cases used in the textbook are compiled and adapted based on the strategic practices of Chinese enterprises. In terms of case organization, efforts have been made to closely link the content with teaching priorities and to include guiding analytical questions.
