Features: Compared to other economic disciplines, insurance studies have unique characteristics, which are mainly reflected in the following four aspects.
1. Multi-attribute. Multi-attribute refers to the content studied in insurance science, which belongs to both social sciences and natural sciences. It is a comprehensive management science that integrates social sciences and natural sciences.
2. Breadth. Breadth refers to the wide range of content studied in insurance science. 3. Legal nature. The conclusion and performance of insurance contracts are based on civil law and contract law. Foreign insurance business is closely related to private international law, international commercial law, and maritime law. Therefore, insurance studies contain a considerable amount of legal content.
4. Practicality. Insurance studies are primarily an applied discipline, and a significant portion of its content is practical, requiring practice to become familiar with and master. The content studied in insurance science can be roughly divided into the following four parts: (1) Basic theories of insurance; (2) Insurance mathematics and statistics; (3) Insurance operations and management; (4) Special topics in insurance. The content of this book is divided into three main parts: basic theories of insurance, special topics in insurance, and insurance operations, providing a systematic discussion of the principles of insurance. For insurance majors, this is an introductory course in insurance studies; for students of other majors, it provides a general overview of insurance studies. When teaching, emphasis can be placed on specific professional characteristics.
