Features: This selected works volume includes fifty-six important writings by Comrade Chen Yun from September 1956 to September 1985. A significant portion of these works focuses on the construction of socialist economy, as well as the ideology, style, and organizational development of the ruling party. Most of these writings have not been publicly published. Divided chronologically, this collection can be broadly categorized into two parts.
Part 1, from September 1956 to March 1962, was a period when China had largely completed the socialist transformation and began large-scale socialist construction, yet faced severe setbacks. In response to the changing circumstances and emerging new issues, the author elaborated on many important economic viewpoints and proposed practical suggestions, including recommendations to reform China's economic system at the time. These viewpoints and proposals played a well-known significant role in consolidating the great achievements of the early years of the PRC, overcoming severe difficulties, and turning the tide of adversity.
Part 2, from March 1977 to September 1985, was a period when our Party, after overthrowing the "Gang of Four," established and implemented correct ideological, political, and organizational lines. The author put forward far-reachingly influential important opinions in guiding and advancing the Party to achieve a historic turn, comprehensively adjusting the proportionally imbalanced national economy, carrying out socialist modernization construction and economic system reform in line with China's actual conditions, strengthening the construction of cadres, and upholding the Party's fine style.
