Features: The 20th century was a period of intense transformation and rapid development in Chinese history. The modernization process that began in the mid-19th century accelerated in the 20th century, completing the historical shift from tradition to modernity. Academic research is an integral part of a society's culture and reflects the same historical changes. The 20th century saw the emergence of numerous academic luminaries and a wealth of scholarly classics in Chinese humanities, and Chinese academic research gradually established a modern system of scholarly thought studies in terms of both academic concepts and writing forms during this century. Studying and summarizing the history of academic development in humanities in the 20th century is not only an examination of the century-long achievements in academic research across various disciplines but also a collective reflection on the modernization process of Chinese academic research, holding profound significance. Here, we briefly review the 100-year journey of Chinese bamboo and silk manuscript research, summarizing the substantial achievements that scholars have painstakingly obtained through hard work. We hope this will contribute to the research efforts of the Chinese academic community, enabling us to take new steps with greater dedication in the new century and continue the study of ancient bamboo and silk manuscripts, thereby adding new brilliance to the long-standing Chinese civilization.
