Features: Bordering the Five Ranges to the north and the sea to the south, it was developed relatively late due to historical and geographical reasons. However, since the Ming and Qing dynasties, it has experienced rapid development due to various factors. The Lingnan culture has long been nurtured by the Central Plains culture while continuously absorbing foreign cultures, always being at the forefront of trends, fostering a spirit of innovation and not adhering to tradition. At the same time, being in the forefront of defending the motherland, it has developed a particularly strong sense of patriotism, gradually forming a cultural system that combines both the traditions of the Central Plains and its own unique style. Since the reform and opening-up, the Lingnan region has experienced a remarkable economic boom, attracting worldwide attention. How to ensure that spiritual civilization flourishes alongside material civilization during this time is a major challenge we face today. Among the important tasks of spiritual civilization construction is inheriting and promoting the fine traditions of ancient academic studies, reviving national spirit. To this end, we propose compiling A Hundred Scholars of Lingnan Academic, which covers a historical span of over two thousand years from the Eastern Han Dynasty to the modern era, selecting and introducing the academic achievements of 108 individuals. This is a comprehensive work dedicated to uncovering and presenting the contributions of Lingnan scholars.
