Features: The development of individual subjectivity is a significant theoretical issue in contemporary humanistic research. The book begins with the problem of "the twilight of subjectivity" and, through the inquiry of "specific or general," analyzes that it is only the subjectivity of individuals under the dominance of instrumental rationality that is approaching its twilight. In contemporary China under the "dual transformation under the paradigm," communicative rationality is a realistic choice for theoretically correcting instrumental rationality. Therefore, the communicative turn of the individual's communicative subjectivity should become a new horizon for the study of individual subjectivity. The individual's communicative subjectivity is a relational quality generated by communicative practice. The dual analysis of its generative schema and generative mechanism answers the questions of why it is possible and how it is possible. Structural-functional analysis and historical evolution not only broaden and deepen the perspective of subjectivity research but also present the polyphonic landscape of coexistence and competition in contemporary China. Starting from this, a rough exploration of the four major construction paths for a sound individual's communicative subjectivity is provided.
