Features: This revision basically maintains the original framework of the textbook's first edition, which remains divided into four parts: Literature, Tools, Retrieval, and Appendices. The Literature section and the Tools section provide students with the fundamental knowledge of social science literature. The Retrieval section is the focus of teaching and also the main body of the textbook. In the revision, the scope and content of this section were expanded, divided into two parts: manual retrieval and computer retrieval. The manual retrieval section explains the application of reference materials in traditional literature retrieval. The newly added computer retrieval section, spanning four chapters, concisely and specifically describes the purpose and strategies of computer literature retrieval, as well as the principles and methods of CD-ROM retrieval and network retrieval. The combination of manual and computer retrieval is a better choice for teaching social science literature retrieval in China today. The two complement each other and are indispensable. The Appendices section, "Comprehensive Retrieval Examples," is an integrated application of the content from the first three sections, aiming to inspire students' thinking through practical examples.
