Features: This book elaborates on what constitutes a bounding category and how languages express it from the perspectives of comparative linguistics and theoretical linguistics. Although bounding is a universal concept at the pragmatic level, not all languages have bounding categories. In many languages, it is merely reflected in the pronoun system. There is a tendency for bounding categories to be subsumed by personal categories. Possessives do not inherently imply bounding relationships. The author of this work has collected a vast number of languages to examine their bounding categories and the various grammatical manifestations related to them (e.g., demonstratives, possessives, personal pronouns, etc.), as well as the emergence and evolution of bounding markers. Expanding from multiple levels of contemporary semantics, pragmatics, and syntax, the book presents many highly enlightening findings.
