Features: Every life is a book, and every experience is a unique story. This is a life story of an ordinary person, though it lacks thrilling plots and suspense, it vividly recreates some people and events that once occurred in the remote northern desert in the first half of the 20th century. The author, Yang Yuwen, a woman now in her 85th year, is truly in her advanced age. Starting last year, she suddenly decided to put pen to paper and write about her life experiences. She acted on it immediately, writing thousands of characters every day in a large notebook used by high school students. Gradually, she has written over 200,000 characters to date. At her advanced age, she is still able to write, which is quite remarkable. Some of the customs and local tales recorded in the book are also little-known. In old China, half a century has passed, and no one can still remember the events that took place in remote villages at that time. The customs and tales of setting up charity schools, the pawnbroking bureau, the tobacco and alcohol association, and the elders' clubs indeed seem quite strange. Written in a straightforward manner, they appear even more vivid and believable. The book includes a total of 40 black and white photographs, all taken by Japanese authors. Each photograph is accompanied by the author's reflections and the editor's comments. The titles of the works are labeled in English, Russian, and Chinese, while the author's names are labeled in Chinese, with the rest in Japanese.
