Features: The preface to the Basic and Diagnostic Sections of this book, "Clinical Diagnosis Guide for Dermatology," has been widely loved by peers since its publication in 1993. It sold over 10,000 copies in just one edition and was revised again in 1998 for a second edition. Driven by a desire to fulfill our duties and responsibilities to medicine, I have revised the Basic and Diagnostic Sections, completed the Treatment Section, and combined the three into a single book titled "New Edition of Dermatological Diagnosis and Treatment Guide." The approach to writing this book is as follows: ① Absorb the essence of both Chinese and foreign knowledge to reflect the development level of dermatological diagnosis and treatment, particularly the advancements in dermatology at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. ② Summarize our clinical experience, introducing methods that have been personally applied or verified and proven to be highly effective. ③ "Teaching someone to fish is better than teaching them to eat fish," so we have elaborated on general and systematic content to help readers apply knowledge flexibly. ④ Combine traditional Chinese and Western medicine, harmonize internal and surgical treatments, and use both oral and topical medications. The main content is presented with both Chinese and English translations. In summary, our goal is to present the "New Edition of Dermatological Diagnosis and Treatment Guide" as a novel, practical, scientifically advanced, comprehensive, and concise book to our peers.
The Basic Section briefly outlines the fundamental theories for studying dermatological diseases, including skin tissue, physiology, biochemistry, pathogens, pathology, immunity, and genetics. The Diagnostic Section discusses the basic methods for diagnosing dermatological diseases, primarily based on skin lesion characteristics and common locations, supplemented by subjective symptoms, disease progression, laboratory tests, and pathological examinations. The Treatment Section explains the basic techniques for treating dermatological diseases, including traditional Chinese medicine's syndrome differentiation and treatment, dermatological surgery, oral medication therapy, and topical medication therapy. It also introduces advancements in medical progress and technological breakthroughs, such as immunology, genetics, cloning, and pulsed lasers, as well as new terminology, such as keratinocytes (keratinocytes), apocrine glands (sweat glands), and eccrine glands (sweat glands), new disease names like venous malformations (cavernous hemangiomas) and capillary malformations (port-wine stains), and new medications such as retinoic acid, calcipotriol (anti-keratinization drugs), mycophenolate mofetil, tamoxifen (immunosuppressants), finasteride (anti-androgens), imiquimod (antiviral drugs), and ivermectin (antiparasitic drugs).
The publication of this book was supported by Tianjin Science and Technology Translation Publishing Company, and we extend our sincere gratitude.
