Dutch Architecture Annual 1

Author: Netherlands Architecture Institute
Publisher:
Publication Date: 2005-05-01
Features: Dutch architecture not only has its unique formal space and exquisite use of materials but also possesses a profound intellectual background. This book fully embodies this characteristic. The four review articles in the book clearly outline the current state of Dutch architecture with extraordinary insight and sharp wit. What is particularly valuable is that all the reviews are based on clear judgments derived from a thorough understanding of the overall social situation, which holds positive implications for architectural criticism in our country. As before, the representative projects included in this annual are selected from the submitted proposals. The submitted proposals were widely solicited through announcements in various media and by mailing advertisements to many architectural design companies, municipal departments, and developers. Among the approximately 300 unselected proposals, the editors chose 60 for on-site visits and ultimately selected 36 to be included in this "Annual."
