Features: Economic history is an important part of economics. The study of national economic history examines the historical process and patterns of social and economic development in a country. National economic history is divided into Chinese economic history and foreign economic history. Foreign economic history investigates the historical evolution of economic development in major countries or regions outside China, as well as the patterns and unique characteristics reflected in this historical development. Foreign economic history is generally divided into several periods, such as ancient, medieval, and modern. This book selects five major industrial countries—Great Britain, the United States, France, Germany, and Japan—and elaborates on the processes of the emergence, development, and evolution of their capitalist economies, as well as the common patterns, individual characteristics, and the subjective and objective reasons behind these characteristics. From this perspective, the book can also be seen as a part of the history of capitalist economies. Studying and researching foreign economic history helps us understand the economic status and development trends of major industrial countries more comprehensively and deeply. The current economic status and structure of countries around the world, as well as some of their fundamental characteristics, have evolved over the course of their economic development. These processes involve complex causal relationships that require investigation. Without understanding the past and the day before yesterday of foreign economies, it is difficult to gain an in-depth understanding and research of their present state. Economic history is extremely rich in content. Only through the study of history can we fully and correctly understand the present and predict future trends.
