Features: Lu Dingshan, born in March 1945, is from Gaozhou, Guangdong, and resides in Yongning, Guangxi. He is an associate research librarian. He has served as the Director of the Yongning County Cultural Center, the Director of the Cultural Bureau, the Chairman of the Literature and Art Federation, the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Yongning County, and the Chairman of the Nanning Shu Yu River Association. Currently, he is a member of the China calligraphy Association, the Vice Chairman of the Guangxi calligraphy association, the Vice Mayor of Nanning, and the Honorary Chairman of the Nanning calligraphy association.
Since childhood, Dingshan has been deeply passionate about calligraphy. He has absorbed nourishment from the steles and ink treasures of his predecessors. His regular script is influenced by Ou Youyi, his running script by the Wang brothers (Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi), his cursive script by Zhang Xu and Huai Su, and his clerical script by collecting the essence of famous steles from the Eastern Han Dynasty. In his spare time from official duties, he diligently creates, with approximately 200 works in various scripts published, exhibited, or awarded at national, provincial, and municipal levels. His outstanding works have been engraved in several stele gardens, such as the "Confucius Stele Garden" in Qufu, Shandong.
He has published specialized calligraphy books, including Selected Poems of Mao Zedong and the Older Generation of Revolutionary Leaders in Calligraphy and Pen Script, Introduction to Clerical Script, Introduction to Regular Script, Introduction to Running Script, Silken Words · Running Script and Clerical Script Pen Script, Endless Words · Running Script and Wei Script Pen Script, Standard Calligraphy Model for Chinese Children · Clerical Script Model, Learning to Write Clerical Script, Learning to Write Regular Script, and Learning to Write Running Script.
In recent years, he has been honored as a "Professional and Technical Outstanding Talent" in Nanning and the first "Exemplary Artist in Art and Craft" in Nanning. He has been included in Dictionary of Modern Calligraphers in China and Dictionary of Contemporary Artists in China.
