Features: Writing, directly and obviously reflects a student's Chinese proficiency, which is a matter of great concern to every Chinese language teacher, especially every student. The essays of students from renowned schools can largely represent the high level of writing among students of the same grade in the country. Therefore, compiling outstanding essays from representative primary and secondary schools across the nation into the Little Writers' Library (Essays Selection) is indeed a highly meaningful endeavor. This series of selected essays not only reflects the current level of students' Chinese proficiency and serves as a reference for Chinese language teaching but, more importantly, provides a rich and relevant writing resource for students, guiding them to quickly improve their writing skills.
This series of selected essays is essentially the fruit of extensive reading and writing by students from renowned schools. A quick glance at any volume reveals a dazzling array of essays—excellent works for students to appreciate, learn from, and emulate. These outstanding essays come from both in-class and extracurricular activities. The reason they stand out is that the authors have developed unique and distinctive personalities through their practice of extensive reading and writing. Exploring the unique reading and writing styles demonstrated by these students can provide profound insights into writing well.
The first insight is that one must read with sincerity and write with genuine emotion. The second is to pay close attention to observation and excel at distilling ideas. The third is to learn from others' language while developing one's own. This series of selected essays offers many insights to readers. It is like a comprehensive mine of ideas, knowledge, life experiences, thinking, and language. It is the labor and wisdom crystallized by students, carefully selected and compiled by teachers, and provided for students to refer to when learning to write. It is also like a close conversation among peers, where they exchange ideas on essay content and writing experiences. In this way, the series creates conditions for students to mine and acquire together, enabling them to improve their writing skills more effectively.
This series selects outstanding essays from member schools of the National Middle School Research Union over the past decade, including those that won awards at national, provincial, and city levels, as well as high school and middle school entrance exam essays and school-level test essays or thematic training essays. It also includes excellent essays from renowned primary schools in recent years. These should be considered the essence of outstanding essays from these schools over the past decade and are highly readable. In the future, we will continue to compile other series of the Little Writers' Library to provide more and better references for Chinese language learning in primary and secondary schools.
