Features: Peony is a beloved flower in China, known since ancient times as the national flower. In botanical classification, peony belongs to the Ranunculaceae family, a deciduous small shrub with a height of 1-1.5 meters. It has bipinnately compound leaves with 3-5 lobed small leaves. Peonies bloom in early April or early May of the second year after planting. Peonies have large flower shapes, a variety of colors, and unique leaves. After long cultivation, new varieties have been bred. They are not only famous ornamental plants but also have medicinal value. The bark and roots of peonies are a highly effective traditional Chinese medicine called "Moutan." Peonies have numerous varieties, which can be divided into five types based on growth habits: dwarf, spreading, loose, upright, and single-stemmed.
- Dwarf type: Compact and delicate.
- Spreading type: Upright and slightly rounded.
- Loose type: Curved branches, gracefully flowing.
- Upright type: Straight upward growth, elegant and poised.
- Single-stemmed type: Distinct main trunk, resembling a tree.
By comparing the features of different peony varieties, through extensive sketches and observations, one can gain a deeper understanding of each variety's characteristics. Consulting with flower cultivation experts further enhances this comprehensive and in-depth rational understanding of peonies.
