Features: On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World War of Resistance against Fascism, we have specially compiled and published this series of commemorative books. The series features a mix of Chinese and foreign writers, primarily focusing on medium-length novels, supplemented by a few longer short stories. From different levels and perspectives, it artistically recreates the magnificent scenes of the Chinese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, fighting bravely against the Japanese invaders more than 60 years ago, as well as the global people rising up to resist the atrocities of the fascists. At the same time, it truthfully and vividly exposes the cruelty and inhumanity of the fascists, as well as the immense disasters brought to the Chinese people and people of all countries by that war. Justice will ultimately prevail over evil. Sixty years have passed since that dark page in human history. As peace and development have become the two major themes of the world's current progress, we should still learn from history, look toward the future, and strive tirelessly for world peace and human development, working to build a fairer and more reasonable new international political and economic order. This is also the original intention behind our compilation and publication of this series. In the summer of 1940, 19-year-old Polish boy Jesse was imprisoned in Auschwitz Concentration Camp by the German Nazis. There, he met, fell in love with, and began a relationship with Jewish girl Shila. In 1944, the clever Jesse stole a Nazi uniform and pass, successfully escaping from this hell on earth with Shila. After returning to the countryside, Shila hid in a farmer's house, while Jesse joined the guerrilla forces, and the two lost contact. In 1983, while running a jewelry store in the United States, Shila happened to learn about Jesse from her Polish housekeeper. Thus, this couple who had endured hardships together reunited after 40 years apart.
