Features: With the arrival of the new millennium, the role of human resources in organizations has entered the center stage. Managers have become aware that human resource management is a function that must play a crucial role in the success of an organization. Human resource management is no longer a reactive measure, nor is it a limited service or a department that everyone has to endure. Any organization must go through a process to maintain competitiveness, enhance productivity, and improve efficiency, and human resources are the active participants and leaders of this process. Like its previous editions, Human Resource Management (8th Edition, English Version) is management-oriented. That is, human resource management is seen as a function relevant to managers working in every unit, project, or team. Managers are often faced with issues, challenges, and decisions related to human resource management. Every manager must be a resolver and diagnostic expert of human resource issues. They must be able to skillfully apply the concepts, procedures, models, tools, and techniques of human resource management. This book places a strong emphasis on the application of human resource management methods in real organizational contexts and environments. Practicality, timeliness, and clarity are all crucial to every edition of this book. Human resource management belongs to all organizations. Its core focus is on people; people are the source of organizational vitality. Without human resources, computer systems, compensation plans, organizational missions, projects, or programs would lose their value. It is precisely because human resource management activities involve people that organizations must coordinate these activities meticulously, execute them properly, and continuously monitor them, only then can organizations achieve their ideal goals. The uniqueness of human resource management also lies in its emphasis on people in the workplace and its focus on the overall well-being and comfort of human resources within the organization. The new edition of this book primarily emphasizes three groups of people: (1) managers and leaders, who are responsible for maximizing performance and acting in accordance with ethical standards; (2) human resource management specialists, who provide advice, support, and assistance to both managers and non-managers in the workplace; and (3) employees (such as engineers, clerks, typists, mechanics, chemists, teachers, nurses, etc.), who are the performers of work. Students and teachers alike agree that readability is the most attractive feature of this book. At the same time, it is highly contemporary and comprehensive. However, I never intended to turn this book into an encyclopedia or a general outline of various human resource management tools, rules, or ideas. Instead, my goal is to make it a textbook that not only teaches teachers and students something but also inspires them, while keeping them up-to-date with the latest trends in the theory and practice of human resource management. This book systematically explores the impact of human resources on managers, employees, and companies, as well as aspects such as human resource security, compensation, development, and protection. An important feature of this book is the combination of theory and practice, with a focus on Chinese human resource management practices. The book emphasizes the application of human resource management methods in real organizational environments and contexts, with a consistent focus on realism, understanding, critical thinking, and management orientation. It also provides abundant case resources, excerpts from excellent articles in human resource management magazines, exercises, and discussion questions, making it a perfect blend of theory and practice with strong readability.
