The book tells an interesting story with this conflict as its background. The protagonist, the young warrior d'Artagnan, becomes a musketeer and forms a lifelong bond with the three musketeers Athos, Porthos, and Aramis. At that time, the king, queen, and chief minister shared power, each harboring resentments. Just as the queen was about to give away a diamond pendant to reminisce about her lover, the cardinal repeatedly slandered the king, urging him to organize a court ball and have the queen wear the diamond pendant to expose the truth. Fortunately, with d'Artagnan's help, the diamond pendant was quickly recovered, saving the queen from a critical situation and foiling the cardinal's.
