Features: Chongqing, Northwest Suburbs, Gele Mountain. During the War of Resistance Against Japan and the War of Liberation, the once beautiful Gele Mountain became a grim and terrifying hell on earth. The Baigonguan Prison and Zhazidong Prison at the foot of the mountain became the "two living coffins" where the Kuomintang's military intelligence (BIS) detained, persecuted, and killed revolutionary martyrs. The author of this book provides the first objective and comprehensive revelation of the historical records of Baigonguan, tracing its six historical transformations through a concise and fresh style, accompanied by over a hundred precious photographs. Using a commentary approach, it evaluates historical events and figures, making it an invaluable specialized work for readers seeking an in-depth understanding of Baigonguan's history.
From the private villa of warlord Baiju to the Special Surveillance Detachment of the Kuomintang's military intelligence, from the Special Surveillance Detachment to the Third Reception Station for American Military Personnel in China, then transformed into a detention camp for collaborationist traitors, and later into the Special Surveillance Detachment of the Kuomintang's Security Bureau and the Management and Reform Center for War Criminals, Baigonguan underwent six major changes! Each transformation left behind countless untold stories and recorded the real historical figures who passed through it. Some left no trace, as if they had vanished into the clouds; others left behind the crimes of their lives; some left their mark on history; others left behind the vices of their character; and some even died but left behind immortal spirits!
Through the storms of Baigonguan, the storms of Baigonguan, it always tells the stories of the past to the people of today, witnessing all the real events it has experienced!
