New Japanese Basic Course 2

Features: After the 1980s, with the rise of Japanese language fever abroad, many trainees had already studied Japanese before coming to Japan. Companies also hoped that trainees could master a high level of Japanese proficiency required for technical learning. At the same time, many institutions inside and outside the association, which were using New Japanese Basic Course 1 & 2, were urging us to write an intermediate textbook after the beginner's course. Therefore, to meet the demands of the new era, we began developing the intermediate textbook in 1992 and, after repeated internal discussions and trials, completed the writing of this book. This textbook is aimed at students who have completed New Japanese Basic Course 1 & 2. Its purpose is to systematically summarize the knowledge already learned, help students master practical conversational skills in daily life, and enable them to communicate fully with Japanese people. This book was written for the technical training of the association, but we believe that students who have completed the beginner level in ordinary Japanese language education institutions can also use this textbook to achieve the goal of improving their Japanese proficiency smoothly and in stages.
Listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translation are the five basic components of foreign language learning. To learn a foreign language well, one should grasp these five components. However, for foreign language learners who are isolated from a language environment, "listening" and "speaking" become the most fierce obstacles on the road to progress. This is especially true for non-native major learners, self-learners, and part-time students. However, New Japanese Basic Course 1 & 2 has successfully addressed this problem. The fact that this textbook has become the world's best-selling Japanese course (according to Asahi Shimbun) and holds a 60% share of the Japanese market is not due to chance. It is the result of nearly four decades of continuous exploration, refinement, and revision by the Overseas Technical Training Association (AOTS), and it has gone through the arduous process of three versions to arrive at the current New Japanese Basic Course 1 & 2. To enable learners to master basic listening and speaking skills within a limited time (200 hours), the arrangement of this textbook is unique, and its learning methods are also distinctive, emphasizing the use of the textbook and audio tapes.
