Features: Comrade Chen Yun was an important member of the Central Leadership Collective centered around Comrade Mao Zedong and the second generation of Central Leadership Collective centered around Comrade Deng Xiaoping. He was a great proletarian revolutionary and statesman, an outstanding Marxist. Comrade Chen Yun consistently emphasized the study of philosophy and methods of thinking. He believed that promoting the study of philosophy among cadres, especially senior leaders, held fundamental significance. Only by grasping Marxist epistemology and methodology could cadres, particularly senior leaders, truly elevate their thinking and avoid major mistakes in their work. Soon after working at the Central Organization Department in Yan'an, he organized study sessions for agency leaders on the basic theories of Marxism-Leninism, with a particular focus on Mao Zedong's philosophical thought, which he maintained for five years. At that time, Chairman Mao Zedong urged Comrade Chen Yun to study philosophy three times to avoid one-sided thinking, which further fueled his enthusiasm for philosophical study. In the subsequent armed struggles and peaceful construction, Comrade Chen Yun consistently adhered to and skillfully applied scientific philosophical theory to guide practice, always combining the principles of Marxism with China's specific realities, making outstanding contributions to the liberation of the Chinese people and the construction of socialism. The "Fifteen-character Method" is the result of Comrade Chen Yun's long-term study of dialectical materialism and Mao Zedong's philosophical thought, representing the integration of these philosophical ideas with rich practical experience and serving as an effective means to achieve pragmatism. This book introduces the origin, practice, and significance of Comrade Chen Yun's "Fifteen-character Method," with a focus on delving into its ideological connotations through historical events and several major decisions made by our Party. The purpose of writing this book, in addition to compiling the firsthand observations and historical materials I had on the "Fifteen-character Method" for future researchers of Comrade Chen Yun's philosophical thought, is more importantly, to once again present the history of Comrade Chen Yun following Chairman Mao Zedong's instructions, setting an example by studying philosophy diligently and applying it pragmatically and correctly. This aims to enhance our recognition of the importance of studying philosophy and to inspire interest in it among all. Comrade Chen Yun adhered to pragmatism throughout his life, and the practice of the "Fifteen-character Method" he summarized and created once again confirms that the principles of Marxism will never be outdated, nor will its worldview and methodology. Currently, under the leadership of General Secretary Hu Jintao, the Central Committee is guiding us to strive to achieve the grand goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, guided by Deng Xiaoping Theory and the Important Thought of Three Represents. Facing the glorious and arduous historical task, we must establish and implement the Scientific Outlook on Development, vigorously promote the spirit of truth-seeking and pragmatism, and foster a strong practice of truth-seeking and pragmatism. As a model of pragmatism in our Party, Comrade Chen Yun's pioneering revolutionary spirit and rigorous scientific attitude are of great significance for us to learn from.
