Features: In December 1996, the State Environmental Protection Administration, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Ministry of Education jointly issued the "National Environmental Education Action Plan (1996-2010)." The Plan required that "environmental education should be carried out according to the different characteristics of primary, junior, and senior high schools, making it a part of quality-oriented education," and explicitly stated the need to "compile and publish a set of" science popularization textbooks suitable for various schools (including primary and junior high schools) to offer environmental elective courses and activity courses. To this end, we organized a writing team consisting of environmental protection experts, education experts, and frontline primary and junior high school teachers to compile and publish this "Environmental Education Textbook."
On one hand, this textbook emphasizes teaching students systematic and comprehensive environmental knowledge, cultivating their environmental awareness and skills. On the other hand, it focuses on adhering to educational principles, ensuring knowledge is presented in a gradual and progressive manner. Additionally, through activity and experimental courses, it cultivates students' participation awareness, hands-on abilities, and the ability to analyze and solve problems, thereby enhancing their overall quality.
