Features: Currently, China's table grape production is advancing towards larger-sized, early-maturing, and high-quality goals. To adapt to the increasingly fierce market competition, the early ripening and early marketing of high-quality grapes have become one of the important means for fruit farmers to improve the economic benefits of grape cultivation. In recent years, protected cultivation of grapes has developed rapidly across the country. Under the condition that the total cultivation area of table grapes remains unchanged or even slightly reduced, the area of protected cultivation of grapes in China has rapidly expanded to nearly 120,000 mu in 1997. In the author's location, Beijing, and Anhui Province's Dangshan County, the area of protected cultivation of grapes has also developed from almost zero in 1989 to 2,200 mu and 3,865 mu respectively, becoming a good path for farmers to escape poverty and achieve a well-off life. Under good management conditions, protected cultivation can make grapes of the same variety ripen 30 to 60 days earlier than open-field cultivation, significantly increasing economic benefits. At the same time, it avoids the adverse conditions of high rainfall, high temperature, and high humidity during the ripening period of open-field grapes, reduces the occurrence of pests and diseases, and alleviates the pressure of concentrated marketing on transportation and storage. However, on the other hand, since protected cultivation has a relatively special micro-environment, the conditions of light, temperature, and humidity are very different from those of open-field cultivation, making the growth, nutrient and water requirements, and disease control of grapes have different characteristics. If managed improperly, it may not only fail to achieve the goals of early ripening and high quality but also quickly recoup the investment costs, and may even completely lose economic benefits. Currently, although there are many types of reading materials on grape cultivation, there is no book specifically dedicated to guiding the management of grapes under protected cultivation conditions as a reference for practical production. Comrade Li Rongchao has been conducting experiments on the early ripening and high-quality, high-yield cultivation techniques of plastic greenhouse Jufeng grapes in Zhuyuan Village, Longhai Township, Dangshan County since 1989. Later, he expanded the research to other excellent grape varieties and types of protected cultivation, achieving success. Through years of cultivation practice, he has accumulated rich production experience and developed a set of effective management techniques. These techniques have been promoted and applied in some parts of the country, and have been reported by newspapers such as China Science and Technology Daily, China Agricultural Abstracts, and Anhui Daily. To promote the development of protected cultivation of grapes and help relevant technologies, the author has written this book based on years of research, investigation, and practice, referring to relevant domestic and international materials, hoping to make a modest contribution to improving the technical level of grape cultivators in protected cultivation. This book is self-contained, and readers can start from any chapter according to their needs for selective reading. Considering the continuous improvement of the knowledge level of, we have also added a brief introduction to the basic knowledge of fruit tree physiology in the book to enable interested readers to better understand the physiological basis of various grape cultivation and management measures.
