Features: The new "English Curriculum Standards" (referred to as "New Curriculum Standards") have raised higher requirements for students' knowledge, communicative competence, cultural awareness, and other aspects. The selection of materials highlights a sense of the times and respects the differences in reading interests among students at different stages. The content is rich and illustrated, which is beneficial for broadening knowledge and cultivating cross-cultural communication awareness. Reading skill guides are written for each volume based on the requirements of the "New Curriculum Standards," focusing on guiding students' learning strategies. The exercises after each unit are designed to be open, flexible, and encourage students to think, fostering creativity and improving language proficiency, fully achieving the goals of the "New Curriculum Standards." With the promulgation of the new "English Curriculum Standards," the reform of secondary school English teaching has entered a new stage, raising new heights in requirements for students' knowledge, communicative competence, cultural awareness, and other aspects. Extracurricular reading is no longer just an optional supplement to classroom teaching but has become an indispensable part of English learning. The "New Curriculum Standards" have made clear stipulations on the quantity of extracurricular reading for students and proposed a series of new requirements in terms of development goals. To this end, the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and Longman have co-authored this "FLTRP–Longman Middle School English Graded Readers: New Curriculum Standards Encyclopedic Series." The purpose is to implement the teaching philosophy of the "New Curriculum Standards" into extracurricular reading and help students meet the requirements set by the "New Curriculum Standards." The series is designed under the guidance of the "New Curriculum Standards," with the following main features: 1. In terms of overall design, it is written according to the levels of the "New Curriculum Standards," making it highly targeted. In terms of material selection, it highlights personalization, choosing materials with a sense of the times and rich content based on the different reading interests of students at different ages, helping students broaden their knowledge and cultivate cross-cultural communication awareness while completing the reading tasks set by the "New Curriculum Standards." 3. In terms of difficulty level, it balances the improvement of abilities with the cultivation of reading interest and confidence, creating a relaxed learning atmosphere for students. 4. In terms of learning strategy guidance, reading skill guides are written for each volume according to the requirements of the "New Curriculum Standards" at each level, guiding students to develop good learning habits. 5. In terms of exercise design after each unit, it highlights flexibility, openness, and participation, combining reading, speaking, and writing, stimulating students' imagination and creativity, and helping them fully achieve the goals of the "New Curriculum Standards."
