Features: The "Olympic Subject Competitions for Primary and Secondary Schools" series consists of over 200 varieties, including textbook series, introductory textbooks, practice papers, mock exam papers, intensive textbooks, classic problem-solving series, weekly tests, question compilations, and multi-solution series. This series is organized by the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads and is a research outcome of the Beijing Step-by-Step Quality Education Research Institute. Since its publication by the Olympic Press, it has stood out uniquely and is deeply loved by teachers, parents, and students. After significant revisions, re-editions, or complete rewrites, it has been renamed as "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School" series, and is now re-published and distributed by Jinghua Publishing House. On this occasion of the re-publication, we sincerely thank millions of readers across the country.
Subject Olympiads for primary and secondary schools (referred to as "Subject Olympiads") are the most extensive, widely participated in, and influential subject competition activities for primary and secondary school students in China. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development.
Based on years of in-depth research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to write and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—comprising over 200 varieties of Olympiad materials. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally, and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from textbooks but exceeding them. Derived from textbooks means referencing the newest [curriculum standards] issued by the Ministry of Education; exceeding textbooks means closely aligning with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements. This cultivates interest, develops intelligence, and enhances skills.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed based on the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive approach, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The questions are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Selected examples are challenging yet logical, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalization and extension; multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches are emphasized. Emphasis is placed on training thinking skills, avoiding excessive drilling, and making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and collected from famous competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited renowned professors, distinguished teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches to contribute.
