Features: The subject Olympiad for primary and secondary schools (briefly referred to as the subject Olympiad) is a competition activity for primary and secondary school students in China that covers the widest range, has the largest number of participants, and has the greatest influence. The subject Olympiad draws inspiration and extends from the International Mathematical Olympiad (briefly referred to as IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (briefly referred to as IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (briefly referred to as ICHO), and other influential subject competitions for secondary school students worldwide, which are eagerly anticipated and followed by millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the Olympiad's strong creativity, flexibility, comprehensiveness, and emphasis on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness, which are precisely the core content of quality education. This is also the need for future development. Based on meticulous research over the years into this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field across the country to successively compile and publish a series of Olympiad reading materials titled "Golden Medal Olympiad" and "Golden Medal School," covering a total of over 200 varieties in seven subjects: mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information science. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally, and are the most appealing in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students. The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiad" and "Golden Medal School" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means compiling in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means closely aligning with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby cultivating interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and structurally rational. Each book is designed hierarchically according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive principle, offering in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive, detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The selected question types are novel, unique, and highly engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school entrance exam, and high school entrance exam questions from both domestically and internationally, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Selective: Carefully chosen examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and attainable. The focus is on learning through examples and generalizing from specific cases; emphasizing multi-solution, multi-transformation, and multi-question approaches for a single problem; and prioritizing the training of thinking skills without resorting to rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: A gathering of distinguished teachers and a collection of elite competitions.
