This book series is a national key project in the field of art studies, with the chief editor being the renowned art critic, literary theorist, and sculptor Wang Zhaowen. Over 100 art historians from the Chinese Academy of Arts, Central Academy of Fine Arts, Palace Museum, as well as major art institutions, research units, and cultural and museum organizations across the country were organized to jointly compile the work. These outstanding scholars in their respective fields worked under unified direction, specializing in their areas, refining their contributions, and revising the manuscript multiple times. The entire book took 17 years to complete.
