Features: Most scholars are skilled in calligraphy. Being able to write a good hand with a brush is considered a major characteristic of classical scholars. In modern times, however, those who are skilled in calligraphy are few and far between. Among these "few and far between" individuals, Mr. Lu Xun stands out as a true master. Mr. Lu Xun's manuscript, titled "Innocently Intended, Yet Indeed Auspicious," features a style that blends regular script and clerical script, yet carries the essence of running script. Its calligraphic style contrasts sharply with his literary style, exuding a subtlety, restraint, and composed demeanor. The horizontal and vertical strokes, like ink and mist, leave a lasting impression. In today's increasingly distant world from brush calligraphy, Mr. Lu Xun's manuscripts have become a rare treasure! Editor's Note:
· The Complete Manuscripts of Lu Xun's Works (Luxury Collector's Edition) is a line-bound book published as a key project by Fujian Education Publishing House. Printed on Xuan paper, it is limited to 2,000 copies, each accompanied by a special collector's certificate, destined for preservation.
· Mr. Lu Xun was exceptionally prolific throughout his life, leaving behind over 12,000 pages of manuscripts over five decades. These are primarily preserved at the Beijing Lu Xun Museum and are also distributed among the National Library, the Shanghai Lu Xun Memorial Hall, and the Shaoxing Lu Xun Memorial Hall. Due to their invaluable nature, preserving them for posterity makes it extremely difficult for the public to view the originals. Even for research, special approval is required. By using near-fine photolithography to publish Mr. Lu Xun's manuscripts, making them accessible to a wider readership, it is undoubtedly a "great merit," much like how Mr. Lu Xun personally selected and self-published The Selection of Woodcuts by K?the Kollwitz, which was printed on the copyright page.
· The manuscripts collected in this book are categorized into original works, translations, collations of ancient texts and stone inscriptions, letters, and diaries. The photolithographed publication includes all of Mr. Lu Xun's original works, excluding poetry. His original manuscripts are primarily essays. As Mr. Lu Xun once said, "Classification helps in understanding the nuances of the text, while chronological arrangement aids in comprehending the historical context. If one wishes to know a person and their era, they must consult a chronological collection." To date, no chronological collection of Mr. Lu Xun's works has been published. This book adopts a chronological approach, and it is believed that this can also reveal the evolution of his calligraphic style and the development of his creative state.
· When facing his manuscripts, those who deeply respect Mr. Lu Xun can freely touch the pages, imagining his writing demeanor. Researchers can dedicate themselves to uncovering hidden gems. Writing enthusiasts can admire the subtlety, restraint, and composed elegance of his calligraphy, as reflected in the traces of meticulous revisions and the reflections of his thoughts on "why it shouldn't be written this way." Calligraphy enthusiasts can appreciate the refined, restrained, and composed style of his handwriting.
