Features: The most meaningful article in this issue of "Old Photos" is by Chen Bida, the grandson of Chen Brei, recalling his family history. It begins with the rise and fall of the Yuan family in his paternal lineage, the marriage between Yuan Yongxi and Chen Lian, his grandfather's passing, and the hardships and separations his parents experienced after liberation. It goes on to tell the stories of survivors after the turmoil, spanning tens of thousands of words, weaving emotions into rational prose to narrate the rather extraordinary life of a family that was not entirely ordinary. Additionally, several short essays remembering old friends and introducing old military uniforms are also worth reading.
