Thirty elite warriors, all die but the noble remains; in the dark room, who can strike down the "Sonorous Order" master, the terror of the Jianghu? The elderly Minister Lin in Yangzhou must die, though the news is out and the odds are slim, this assassination must proceed; in the forbidden tower, what is the master like? Above and below the well, is it truly a world apart?
The "game" Xiao Duan sets for his readers is often unexpected, much like the "Jinlong" chessboard in Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils by Jin Yong, leaving one pondering endlessly yet unable to let go. Beyond the elegance of his prose, experiencing a different kind of tragic and eerie suspense is the unique charm of Xiao Duan's writing style.
