The book features two articles on China's food security, aiming to raise awareness of the importance of food security and the environment. Food security (or food) has both economic and political characteristics and is a strategic issue of national economic security. The articles state: "Due to limited space for expanding arable land, increasing production, financial support, and rising food prices, coupled with constraints from declining groundwater levels and global warming, the continued stable increase in food production faces severe challenges." We must "strengthen research in natural and social sciences and firmly implement the scientific concept of comprehensive, coordinated, and sustainable development." The 21 articles in this issue of World Development Situation each have their own unique features, with authors expressing diverse views.
