The center employs experts and scholars specializing in criminal law from the School of Law at Renmin University of China as full-time researchers, while also recruiting renowned criminal law experts and scholars from China and abroad as part-time researchers. Professor Zhao Bingzhi, a distinguished middle-aged criminal law scholar, serves as the Director of the center, Professor Lu Jianping, another renowned middle-aged criminal law scholar, as the Executive Director, and Professors He Jiahong, Huang Jingping, Zhen Zhen, and Zheng Ding, all distinguished middle-aged criminal law scholars, as Deputy Directors. Professor Gao Mingxuan, a famous criminal law scholar, serves as a full-time consultant to the center, while several expert leaders from the central political and legal organs serve as advisors. In terms of academic research scope and structure, the center leads with criminal law as a national key discipline, encompassing major disciplines and research fields of criminal law both in ancient and modern times, as well as in China and abroad. The center has established four research institutions and directions, among which the second research room focuses on criminal procedure law, criminal investigation, and criminal physical evidence technology. The organic integration of disciplines related to criminal law and the rational combination of research teams are the center's distinctive advantages in complementary strengths. In accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education, the center should become a national academic research base for criminal law with clear research advantages and characteristics, and strive to achieve a leading position in domestic research levels and the ability to participate in major decision-making, while also gaining a high reputation in the international academic community of criminal law. To achieve these goals and status, the center takes academic research as its core, deepens the reform of the research system, and implements comprehensive openness. It emphasizes the cultivation of high-level talent, strengthens academic exchanges, guides and promotes the development and improvement of criminal law disciplines, and aims to build a first-class, truly prestigious research base in the field of criminal legal science. The construction of criminal law and governance is a grand social engineering project that requires close attention and persistent efforts from legislation, adjudication, theory, and the entire society. As criminal law theory plays an extremely important role in guiding, directing, and promoting the development of China's criminal law and governance, it is closely linked to the progress and perfection of China's criminal law and governance. Currently, criminal investigation and physical evidence identification work are facing new situations and challenges. The role of criminal investigation studies and physical evidence technology research in discipline construction and promoting practical development is becoming increasingly prominent, with increasingly heavy tasks and greater responsibilities. Therefore, the importance of theoretical research in criminal investigation and theoretical research in physical evidence technology becomes particularly significant. It is gratifying that in recent years, scholars have been guided by Deng Xiaoping Theory and the Important Thought of Three Represents, with the purpose of "prospering legal studies and promoting the rule of law," and have focused on key, hot, and difficult issues in criminal investigation and physical evidence technology, conducting extensive academic research activities and achieving remarkable results. Therefore, it has become a highly meaningful task for scholars to promptly summarize these achievements in theoretical research, comprehensively reflect new perspectives, ideas, and methods in criminal investigation and physical evidence technology research, and thereby strongly promote the development of theories in these fields. To this end, we have been commissioned by the Research Center for Criminal Law of Renmin University of China to organize and edit the Development Report on Criminal Investigation and Physical Evidence Technology in China (Volume 2). This book strives to comprehensively, systematically, and relatively thoroughly reflect and accommodate the academic dynamics, progress, and achievements in China's fields of criminal investigation and physical evidence technology in recent years, as well as the dynamics, progress, and achievements in China's criminal investigation legislation and adjudication. It aims to become a comprehensive, large-scale reference book, academic information book, and essence book serving the theoretical and practical communities of criminal investigation and physical evidence technology. It should be noted especially that this book is titled "Volume 2" because it is a continuation of the "Criminal Investigation and Physical Evidence Technology" section of the Criminal Law in China published by the Renmin University of China Press in 2003. This book is primarily aimed at a broad readership of criminal investigation and physical evidence researchers and practitioners. It includes sections such as "Review of Discipline Development," "Review of Academic Conferences," "Review of Academic Exchanges," "Overview of Legal System Progress," "Selected Important Papers of Full-time and Part-time Researchers of the Base," "Book Summaries" (including all monographs, important translations, textbooks, and collections of papers), "Paper Summaries" (representative and academically significant papers), "Abstracts of Doctoral Dissertations," and "Compendium of Master's Theses." Due to our first attempt at editing such a large-scale book, our lack of experience, the urgency of the publication schedule, and the challenges in collecting various types of information, there are inevitable shortcomings despite the extensive work we have done. We sincerely ask for the understanding of our readers. In the future, we will make appropriate improvements in both form and content as needed and under favorable conditions. We firmly believe and sincerely hope that with the enthusiastic care and strong support of the legislative and judicial departments, as well as our fellow legal universities, research institutions, and colleagues in the fields of criminal investigation and physical evidence technology, through our efforts, the Development Report on Criminal Investigation and Physical Evidence Technology in China can become a bridge and stepping stone for readers to enter the fields of criminal investigation and physical evidence technology, a window showcasing new perspectives and ideas in China's fields of criminal investigation and physical evidence technology, and ultimately contribute to the healthy and civilized development of China's entire criminal justice system!
