Features: Popular language can be divided into spoken and written forms. People's spoken language spreads in various settings every second, making it nearly impossible to collect and scientifically classify and statistically analyze it. Currently, analysis of this can only be based on sampling surveys. Radio and television are audio language carriers, but complete text databases for searching are not yet available. Books and journals are standardized language carriers, but due to the lack of full digitization and their relative isolation from social life, they are also difficult to serve as typical samples of social popular language. As a mass communication medium, newspapers are closely connected with all levels of society, disseminating news and information from mainstream society and various aspects. Therefore, the language of newspapers is generally characterized by being popular and up-to-date, and generally, social popular language will stubbornly enter the language system of newspapers.
Faced with this characteristic, the Wen Wei Xin Min United Press Group News Information Center, which possesses the longest history newspaper database in China, leverages its unique advantages by introducing TRS word frequency statistical analysis software. Comparing the annual development trends of popular language since the founding of the country, and using the most representative newspapers in China, such as those in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, and Chongqing, as corpus samples, news information experts painstakingly selected the top 2004 popular language of China and released it for the first time in 2005.
The "China Popular Language 2005 Release List" will, for the first time in China, comprehensively, objectively, and meticulously present a single-year edition of popular language on a grand scale, covering multiple fields such as politics, international affairs, finance, transportation, workplace, real estate, automobiles, health, publishing, education, tourism, sports, science and technology, internet and communication, and entertainment.
