Features: This book is divided into 5 parts and 15 chapters. Part 1 "Dynamic Processes of Arc Welding" uses control theory principles to quantitatively describe the dynamic behavior of arc welding power sources and arc welding processes and their impact on the process. Part 2 "Control of Welding Arc" describes how to develop new methods for controlling the welding arc by utilizing new technologies in modern electronics. Chapter 3 "Arc Sensors and Welding Automatic Tracking Systems" applies control theory to propose physical and mathematical models for sensors, conducts a detailed analysis of arc sensor information, and suggests using spatial transformation methods to process data. This part also describes the high-speed rotating sensor created by the author and the two typical automatic tracking welding machines developed using it. Part 4 "Real-Time Detection of Welding Temperature Field and Its Applications" describes a new method for measuring the welding temperature field using thermal image colorimetry. Experiments prove that this method is simple, convenient, reliable, and fast, allowing direct detection and real-time control during welding. Part 5 "Automatic Path Planning for Arc Welding Robots" presents the concept of using a 3D vision system to identify weld seams and automatically plan paths. It reviews methods and experimental results for 3D weld seam recognition and applies this method to design the hardware and software of arc welding robots, conducting actual welding in the laboratory. This part proposes development directions and approaches for applying robots in construction sites, large structures, underwater environments, and extreme working conditions. The primary readers of this book are experts, researchers, engineering technicians, teachers, graduate students, and undergraduate students in the fields of welding science and related disciplines.
