China enacted the Consumer Rights Protection Law of the People's Republic of China in 1993, which defines consumers as individuals who purchase, use goods, or accept services for personal consumption needs. This law not only stipulates the rights of consumers and the obligations of businesses but also outlines the protection of consumer rights by consumer organizations and the state, as well as the mechanisms for resolving disputes and the legal liabilities of businesses. In addition to this specialized law for consumer protection, broadly speaking, all laws, regulations, and rules in our market economy legal system directly or indirectly protect consumer rights, and the legal protection of consumer rights takes various forms. Due to space constraints, this book can only selectively include some important regulatory documents to provide a general overview of consumer rights protection law.
