Author: Deng Zhenglai, Editor-in-Chief
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2004-08-01
Features: Due to space constraints, this book only selects and includes academic papers that specifically discuss issues related to academic standardization. Therefore, articles published in newspapers on this topic in recent years are not included in this book. Moreover, some articles published in social science journals have also been excluded due to their length. Additionally, it is well-known that a series of academic critique articles targeting specific academic practices, which have had a significant impact in academia in recent years, have been published in social science academic journals. For example: Deng Zhenglai's "Review of 'Antarctic Politics and Law'" (Issue 1 of China Review), Wu Tieping's "Against Fabrication in Academic Works – A Review of Shen Xiaolong's Cultural Linguistics and Other 'Writings'" (Journal of Shanxi University, Issue 2, 1996), Zhai Qingfu et al.'s "The Truth of an Academic Case – A Review of Yu Yingshi's Mutual Verification of 'The Ten Critiques' and Chronology of the Pre-Qin Thinkers'" (Chinese History Studies, Issue 3, 1996), Li Peishan et al.'s "Is It an English Issue or a Scientific Ethics Issue?" (Communications of Natural, Issue 4, 1996), Ge Jianxiong et al.'s "Is It Academic Innovation or Low-Level Data Compilation – A Review of Yang Zhihui's Research on Population Statistics of China in Ancient Times'" (Historical Research, Issue 1, 1998), Cao Shujie's "Eastern-Western Dialogue in Chinese Village Studies – A Review of Wang Mingming's The Journey of the Community'" (Social Sciences in China, Issue 1, 1999), Zhang Shuguang's "Critique Rules, Rationality of Interaction, and Free Spirit – A Review of He Qinglian's The Tragedy of Modernization (Reading, Issue 11, 1999 and Issue 2, 2000), Chen Kejian's "The Endless Pride of Thought – A Review of The History of Chinese Thought Volume" (Academia, Issue 1, 2000), Lan Yong's "Reflections on Maintaining Academic Norms and Ethics – A Review of Chen Guosheng's Academic Fraud Incident" (Academia, Issue 3, 2000), Sun Zhouxing's "The Tragedy of Practical Philosophy" (China Reading News, March 29, 2000), etc. However, it is deeply regrettable that due to space constraints, these articles are still not included in this book. I believe that this regret may beed in the near future through the efforts of the publishing industry. Of course, the editing and publication of this book first and foremost thank every author of the included papers for their contributions and understanding; most of them are my close friends. Without their help, this work would have been difficult to complete. I also want to thank Yang Yusheng, as he helped me connect with many friends. Of course, I must also thank the following social science journals for their understanding and support: China Social Sciences Quarterly, China Review, Social Sciences in China, Historical Research, Reading, Academia, Journal of Shanxi University, Chinese History Studies, Communications of Natural, The Scholar, Oriental, Modern and Traditional, Historical Research, American Studies, Social Sciences Forum, Social Sciences in China, Jiangsu Social Sciences, Exploration and Struggle, American History Studies Newsletter, Communications of Natural, Reading, World History, Ethnic Studies, Journal of Guangxi University for Nationalities, Academia, Economic Quarterly, Oriental Culture, Social Sciences Forum, Modern History Research, Contemporary Chinese History Studies, Party History Research, Theoretical Research on Historical Studies, etc. Furthermore, I want to thank Jiang Hao of Legal Press for his enthusiastic and responsible work, as without him, it would have been impossible to publish this book in such a beautiful form. Finally, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to every individual who has contributed to the academic standardization movement in China over the past decade, as their efforts and reflections have created an inspiring future for Chinese academic development. Therefore, this book is also dedicated to them.
